Mistral and HUMAIN collaborate to advance sovereign AI in Saudi Arabia
Mistral and HUMAIN have announced a strategic collaboration spanning AI infrastructure, advanced model development and the deployment of AI solutions in Saudi Arabia and across the wider region.
The collaboration, valued at hundreds of millions of euros, will focus on the development and localisation of advanced AI models, with initial areas including cybersecurity and voice technologies. The companies
also plan to develop frontier models with strong Arabic-language capabilities to support organisations across the region.
As part of the collaboration, Mistral will explore using HUMAIN’ s data centre infrastructure to meet growing local computing requirements. The companies also plan to develop a joint go-tomarket strategy in Saudi Arabia, focused on delivering advanced AI solutions to regulated industries.
The partnership is designed to address growing demand for sovereign AI, enabling organisations to maintain greater control over their data, intelligence, computing infrastructure and AI operations.
Under this approach, data can remain within customer-defined boundaries, while models can be adapted and owned using open weights. Training and inference can also take place on infrastructure and within jurisdictions selected by customers.
Such capabilities are particularly relevant to sectors including financial services, manufacturing, telecommunications, cybersecurity and the public sector, where security, compliance, resilience and operational autonomy are critical considerations.
