Ericsson launches NetCloud Private to address Gulf data sovereignty requirements
E ricsson has announced NetCloud Private, a new offering that brings cellular lifecycle management into customer-controlled environments, giving organisations greater control over the deployment and operation of Ericsson Wireless WAN infrastructure.
Designed for government agencies, critical infrastructure operators and other regulated organisations that rely on 5G and wireless networks, NetCloud Private enables customers to centrally manage Ericsson Cradlepoint devices while keeping network management and telemetry data within their own environments.
The platform addresses growing regulatory and data residency requirements that can restrict the use of public cloud-based network management. Customers can deploy NetCloud Private within an on-premises data centre or a trusted in-country cloud environment.
According to Gartner, more than 50 % of multinational organisations are expected to have a digital sovereignty strategy by 2029, up from less than 10 % in 2025. This trend is creating new governance challenges for organisations managing connectivity across vehicle fleets, remote sites and IoT networks while complying with local regulations.
NetCloud Private delivers core capabilities of the Ericsson NetCloud platform in a customerhosted environment. Its centralised management capabilities simplify the onboarding, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting and software updating of thousands of distributed routers from a single platform.
The offering is designed to support deployments across public safety, defence, smart cities and critical infrastructure environments.
NetCloud Private has also been developed to address data sovereignty requirements in the Middle East, where data protection, residency and governance are increasingly important considerations. The platform can be deployed directly within a customer’ s data centre and operates with relatively low storage, memory and compute requirements.
Across the Gulf, NetCloud Private is being deployed in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, with further deployments under way in other Gulf markets. In the UAE, a communications service provider will host the platform for multiple enterprise customers, while in Saudi Arabia, a customer will host the platform for its own operations.
Pankaj Malhotra, Head of Enterprise Product and Engineering, Enterprise Wireless Solutions,
Ericsson, said:“ NetCloud Private is a direct response to our customers who need the proven power of our Wireless WAN solutions in a customer-owned environment. By leveraging advanced data handling techniques and secure encryption capabilities, we provide a higher level of trust for governments, enterprises and international organizations. This offering empowers our customers to direct their own network management strategy, providing a trusted and scalable way to manage their networks while upholding data residency and compliance standards.”
The development of NetCloud Private has been shaped by the requirements of organisations operating in highly controlled environments, including government agencies, regional service providers, public safety organisations and critical infrastructure operators.
NetCloud Private is scheduled to become generally available globally in October 2026. •
